“How are you son?”

Sometimes we encounter heart-warming stories where it would be selfish to keep them to ourselves.

“How are you son?” doesn’t seem like a question to rock-your-socks, but for one young boy it was…

Mert is 13 and a member of a family of 5. He has a younger sister and brother, and a mother and father.

Yet, it hasn’t always been like that.

He was the only progeny of his mother’s first marriage. Unfortunately, when she married again, her second husband didn’t feel able to treat him as a son. So much so that, as a result, for the first 11 years of his life he couldn't live with his family and was forced to live with his grandparents.

The good news is that for the last 14 months, he has been happily living with his new family.

The great news was personally hearing him talk about when his “new” father called him “son” for the first time. He couldn't have been happier.
